About This Blog

I Prayed My Way Through Ranger School

I read a lot of blogs, heard a lot of stories, and generally saturated myself (with the help of my wonderful wife) with as much information as possible prior to attending Ranger school. At times I heard that faith was important, and I even heard some jokes about how everyone “finds faith” at Ranger school (RS). Those who have attended RS are sure to recognize the double edged joke while those who haven’t are as unimpressed as I was. What I did not get was an impression that faith was the central theme to folk’s attendance. Instead I was pretty sure that the natural reaction to gaining a tab was a sense of self accomplishment. This wasn't a massive step then nor is it now as it really is quite a feat. What surprised me was that I DIDN'T feel a huge sense of triumph; my greatest success was that I prayed my way through Ranger school.

With this blog I hope to recount as much as possible the times when I was stuck at a mental, physical, emotional or even spiritual impasse at which it was solely through prayer that I moved forward. I’ll attempt to provide an honest, mostly chronological, account of my time at RS and the challenges endured while being carried by faith. My goal is to witness to the miracle of faith, and my audience consists of those going to or having attended Ranger school, but I would certainly not discourage any from reading or remarking! That said please come back and visit as this is a work in progress and if you have any questions or feedback than by all means comment!

Lessons Learned and Faith for a Modern Day Leader

My RS stories didn't make it in to the blog as planned, so I'll have to just work them in along with other stories in which my faith intersects my life. I hope to use this blog as a way to explore my faith and help make sense of how it effects everything I do and experience. Each challenge, and each victory, has had varying degrees of opportunity for the same type of growth I experienced from January through April 2013. I hope to, in part through written discovery, really find a way to be a person of faith in the whirlwind hubbub that is every day life and if possible learn how to be a leader of faith and not just a leader who believes in something.
